Reconstruct Revolutionizes Construction Sector with Computer Vision and AI

reconstruct

Reconstruct, an early-stage technology business based on ideas and technology developed at The Grainger College of Engineering, is bringing computer vision and artificial intelligence to buildings, infrastructure, and retail stores all around the world.

However, five years ago, Reconstruct had only its founders, three Grainger Engineering professors - Mani Golparvar, Derek Hoiem, and Tim Bretl - and students on staff. A few years before, it was merely a concept incubated in the IDEA Lab, a space for faculty and students to brainstorm ideas in the Grainger Engineering Library.

Today, more than 1,000 projects are underway at the company, which builds artificial intelligence and digital twin-based software for the construction and real estate industries. See how they did it Here.
